| Eventually it suffers from the same problem as Defense Grid: you discover that the only tower worth building is the basic all-purpose damage one.
But it's even worse here. At least you had to throw in some freezing towers in Defense Grid. Kingdom Rush lets you upgrade arrow towers into rangers who get an ability to outright immobilize every enemy inside their massive range for 3 seconds with an 8 second cooldown. On top of that it damages all immobilized enemies that ends up being more deadly than your dedicated area of effect artillery towers. It had an interesting mechanic before that where "freezing" towers were barracks that produced soldiers who would block enemies until they died and were replaced by new soldiers. This too is obsolete once you figure out to put all your upgrade points into the militia which are soldiers you can spawn anywhere every 10 seconds. |
