For one of my images, I have to have a directoryname.info file next to the directory for WinUAE to see it. For others I don't. Infuriating. This .info file is not an ASCII text file... I have no idea what it is and most damningly, you can take a pre-existing .info file and rename directoryname.info and you're good. What the fuck?
Also, don't fuck around with the one WHDLOAD repository of games that wants you to install shit. Here is a site with tons of "preinstalled" games.
A bunch of us who make text games in the Hugo programming language are probably going to put together an Amiga Hugo pack soon. Here is my Amiga running a science fiction text-only game I did a few years ago called Pantomime:
(Christ, re-reading that, I could have knocked about 50% of the opening text out.)
