And you can always count on Notch to deliver (something).
He's the man who begged Phil Fish to come back to gaming and he wrote a blog post defending Oculus. All you need to know is summarized below.
Bleszinski made clear upfront that he participated in an early round of venture capital funding for Oculus VR and said he stands to make a "very sizable chunk of money" from Facebook's buyout.
"Notch, your cancelling Minecraft makes you look like a pouty kid who is taking his ball and going home. It's a bratty and petty move and it saddens me greatly," he said.
He accused Notch of being petty for not liking Facebook, the company poised to make him wealthier. Hunh. How about that. It's such an obvious self-serving post, why would anyone respond?
"I'm a man driven by principles, not capitalism, so I guess I'll just have to get used to the occasional name calling," Notch said in a tweet to Bleszinski last night.
Unless you're Notch. Oh, snap. Being an obnoxious idealogue is still at least more interesting that being a company shill even though I'm not sure if Notch fully understands how much he's benefited from capitalism himself. Cliff's basically admitted that GoW isn't the legacy he wants and that he doesn't know how the characters became all buff and manly. Years later, it's obvious that Gears hasn't had much staying power or influence on the industry the way Minecraft has.
Responding to this statement directly, Bleszinski said, "I understand. To be clear, it was the manner in which you pulled the plug that I mentioned, not the act itself."
And there you have it. CliffyB is a pussy.
