Forum Overview :: Someone Review Civ 4 Already

I don't understand Pando's purpose by skip 07/11/2014, 10:15pm PDT
According to their about page: We have one goal here at PandoDaily: "To be the site-of-record for that startup root-system and everything that springs up from it, cycle-after-cycle."

Mashable and TechCrunch already do this. Did the world need another site to comment/gossip about Silicon Valley? Anyway, the reason they're here is because someone decided to drink some Soylent knock-off instead of eating meals for a week. A week! All these drinks are just updated versions of SlimFasts. Not exactly a hard assignment.

Having been pitched on the idea, I felt compelled to try it and follow in the footsteps of other reporters who bravely devoted weeks or months of their lives to living off Soylent, in the name of science or journalism or sadomasochism or something. . .

Unfortunately I turned out to be a much bigger pansy than the likes of Contently’s Shane Snow or Vice’s Brian Merchant. I failed you, dear Pando readers, because I did not make it one meal. The flavor wasn’t bad at all — a nutty mixture that reminded me of oatmeal, much like Snow described the taste of Soylent. But the grainy texture and thickness repelled me.

I might be a busy reporter, but I’m also half-Italian. We make time for food, no matter what.

Not one meal. She had one fucking job and that was to drink some shakes for a week and couldn't make it. And then blames it on being Italian. Don't "dear Pando readers" me you lazy ass. If your readers were that dear you'd actually write something worth reading. Nobody wants to read about your lack of willpower. You couldn't even make it a week to describe any changes in energy levels or indigestion or something? You couldn't try a few different types of these drinks to compare the test or texture at least since you're only going to drink one glass of any of them anyway? This entire article could be summed up in a Twitter post: Tried shake. Didn't like it once and that's enough. #busyreporter Writers like this have nothing but contempt for their audience and think writing their article should be enough reward for anyone. The New Yorker article (that she has the gall to link to) actually features a reporter making an actual effort to try living off the stuff.
