| It's clunkier than Cybernator and ulgier than Metal Warriors with more boring levels than either. The time limit is ridiculous, the special weapons massively overpowered, and regular enemies zero challenge. Instead of the tried and true Contra system for aiming where you just push the direction, it's the Resident Evil tank system of swiveling.
Here's the entire challenge of the game: go through each level and figure out which bosses take the most time to kill normally, die because you ran out of time, then on the 2nd run ration your super weapon just right to instantly vaporize them. So you're left with boring levels with easy enemies and winning means bypassing the boss battles. None of the bosses are even that hard. You just can't whittle their life bar down fast enough with the regular gun before the fucking killjoy timer runs out. EVEN THAT wouldn't be a challenge if the aiming wasn't so fucked. Dying means going back to the start of a level. 3 Lives and you're done. A timer more punishing than any old school console game. It's the worst of an era and then some. NEGATIVE |
