There's enough new and fresh in here to make people reconsider the genre.
Or I just like the pretty graphics. That could be it.
But there's a thing in the game, one of the key "resources" you deal with, and it's called "pressure". Everyone, including the devs, knows that it's a terrible word for it, and that for the first three months they're going to do little else but try to explain what "pressure" is. It would be better if they came up with a better word for it.
But the thing is, nobody can come up with a better word for it. You can come up with better phrases for it, like "impetus for civilians to produce", or "that thing in SimCity or whatever where people want to build hot dog stands", but trying to nail it down in to one word is just so much harder than saying "science" or "economy" or "metal" or whatever.
So that, plus the entire trade structure, and definitely the diplomacy system, I think is pretty damn new, and pretty damn interesting.
Plus it's pretty, and fast enough to appeal to the RTS crowd, but slow enough to appeal to the more thoughtful/old/feeble crowd.
I think you people will like it. Let me know!
