If you're surprised that the Vatican has an observatory to search the stars, and that they would hire astronomers to do so, well, you're probably not the only one. (I wasn't; I had heard of it before.)
So, anyway, the guy was appearing as the main speaker on one of the programs on "C-Span 3" this morning, talking about something, probably a book he wrote. Anyway, as part of his discussion he said that "belief in God does not necessarily mean you pray to the prime force of the universe, otherwise you'd pray to gravity. On the other hand, this could explain why Catholics celebrate mass."
