It's the equivalent of the secretary screaming "And I told your wife about that he gay hooker you visit" while she's color cleaning put her desk. Immature, but she's the one with the pink slip and many bosses are terrible. What's funnier is that she doesn't quite understand the dynamics here. Gone Home sold because it billed itself as about teeage lesbians, that horror angle didn't last long, possibly one of the least oppressed groups under the social justice umbrella. Men don't consider jacking off discrimination and women welcome less competition. The story of star-crossed lesbian lovers doesn't offend the sensibility of gamers, most who are men because they would never dream of stopping two lesbians hooking up. They can't relate to being the bad guy or to the sister, who's an impartial observer.
Sunset put you in the role of a black maid. Most gamers, if they've seen a maid that is not named Mom, will be weirded out because it's more depressingly realistic then gh's narrator. Most of us would want a clean house more than ending racism so it becomes uncomfortable in a way gh isn't, which is set years ago when mores were different so nobody can really be blamed for their views. Anti and Pro SJW like to feel good about themselves so this was never going to sell well to either group, even if the gameplay wasn't terrible. |
