Do we need a trigger for Fat Camp that does "WARNING: This film is not body always positive"? Does Short Circuit 2 need one for robo-discrimination? I'm sure they want a misogyny tag, which would literally be applied to all movies.
Wouldn't the ideal thing (since this is such a necessary accessiblity thing, like wheel chair ramps) for people to demonstrate how easy it is by producing a database of trigger warnings for new performances. It would be as easy as have a few friends who like to watch films/see plays/etc. I'm sure for smaller things the creators would be more than happy to tell you if the play features a rape scene.
Except no one does that because it's a huge subjective mess that no one wants to bother with. This dumbass sits there arms crossed "tell me again how it's too hard to add trigger warnings to every film" while completely unwilling and unable to point to one well maintained database. Just wanting other people to do the work for her.
A quick google search shows that either no one cares enough to pay for a domain for this kind of thing. There is a tumblr or two, which is definitely the shittiest place to host a comprehensive database. It's funny because of course a trigger warning at the start wouldn't be enough "this ruined my night out, can you just give me the timestamp of the rape so I can use the bathroom?", "hey maybe we our own ratings board?". |
