The Last Door is a point-and-click adventure game with a Lovecraftian horror theme. It kind of reminds me of the old Sierra adventure games, except that there are no verbs... just objects you can pick up and use in various places.

The art style is also reminiscent of the old Sierra games as well. Low-res art with BIG pixels. it was kind of off-putting at first, but I came to kind of enjoy it. In a game where you have to click on hotspots, having big pixels is kind of nice anyway.

The setting is Victorian England. There is a lot of cool stuff like old manor houses, abandoned schoolhouses, graveyards, etc. Somehow, Lovecraftian horror has always worked best in a 19th century setting... maybe it's the contrast between the Victorian ideals of progress and the existential horror.

The dialogue is mostly good, but there are a few places where you can sort of tell that the designers were not native speakers (they're from Spain). There's also a few run-on sentences about nameless horrors that I am convinced are probably a knowing wink towards Lovecraft's purple prose. Probably.

It's kind of nice that you can play this in a brower if you want.

Positive.
