Okay, nobody wants to talk about death but I think we have to.

FACT: Paul's best friends in the world are probably me, Pinback, Flack, Worm, Roody Yogurt and Jizaboz.

When I went in the hospital, only Pinback and Jizaboz bothered to call my phone number and see if I was still around, so I'd consider them much higher levels of "friend". In case you're wondering how to get my phone number, Viridian Development Corporation is in the phone book, it's listed on Google - go ahead, type "Viridian Development Corporation" (including quotes) into Google and you'll get my information - and if you do a whois lookup on either "paul-robinson.us" or "paulrobinson.us" you'll find my name, e-mail address, street address and telephone number.

FACT: Paul ain't gonna be around here forever.

I have no plans to die, there's no future in it. Or as famous unconvicted child molester Woody Allen said, "I don't mind dying I just don't want to be there when it happens." (And that was an exaggeration; Allen was living with Mia Farrow when he started a relationship with fucking her daughter Soon Yee Previn, who was 19. So it wasn't really child molesting, it just sounds nastier that way.)

FACT: It will probably fall on me to organize the funeral and "say a few words" and such in Washington D.C. when Paul's time to expire arrives.

I live in University Park, Maryland, which is about 3 miles from Washington, D.C. The District Line / Maryland State Line ends at about the 3200 block on Rhode Island Ave. Rhode Island becomes Baltimore Avenue at about the 4600 block. I live about 35 blocks northwest of the state line. My family lives in Arlington, Virginia so when there is a funeral it probably would happen there.

This is not a dark or a "black" thread. That's not the point of this. We don't need to ask ourselves how it will happen. But I think it's fair to say that should the inevitable occur, we need to have some sort of plan.

PROPOSAL: So here is what I am asking. When we all fly out to Washington

You might want to fly to Thurgood Marshall BWI airport in Baltimore, it's probably cheaper than flying either to Ronald Reagan National (DCA) or Dulles Airport (IAD). Metrobus runs an express bus (B30) from BWI airport to the Greenbelt Metro, it's currently $6.

and have your service, Paul, there is the matter of what we're gonna do for dinner that night. Now, normally if we were visiting for happier reasons we'd just ask you to cook. But that won't happen in this case, by definition. So.

Can we get you to promise to cook some meals for us to be opened for the dinner after your funeral? I am not asking you to make videos of it, just that we can go to your place and open the freezer and avoid cooking ourselves.

I think that's a pretty fair deal but let me know your take on it.

No promises. I don't keep a lot of food around. I do keep some TV dinners around and I'll often have "family size" packages of things like mac and cheese, pork ribs, or Salisbury steak. If there's anything of mine left in the refrigerator after I'm gone, you and anyone coming along is welcome to have it, I won't mind.
