There's so much idiocy and delusion here I don't know where to begin.
Mysterio wrote:
The problem with this discussion is that the party feeling put upon -- millennials -- are usually so lacking in the slightest bit of knowledge about the real world that it's impossible to have a conversation with them.
Real cold hard fact here to immediately dismiss any counter argument. Holy fuckballs son, your libertarian brain hasn't even the most basic handle on debating (maybe the Scott Walker variety though) and here you are trying so hard to come off as knowledged.
You're saying the generation growing up thinking that hiding under desks was going to save them from nuclear blasts had a better handle on the real world compared to a generation that grew up in the information age? You're basing your whole delusion on a pure Tumblr sample survey, but then again what Republican talking point doesn't fall apart at the slightest scrutiny?
What's the modern day equivalent of Flint, Stuebenville, Allentown and the Rust Belt as whole? I don't see cities disappearing anymore.
Good to know all those areas have totally recovered to 60s era prosperity since then! I hear Detroit is doing great!
[You can personally go to college tomorrow and get educated in a well-paying field. There's no social contract telling you well-paying manufacturing jobs will always be there.
Social contracts? More like socialism contracts! Anyone can personally [sic] go to college tomorrow after taking out $80k in loans not covered by bankruptcy laws! You're guaranteed a well-paying field! Except you're not because "no social contract"!
You're saying college is more affordable now than 40-50 years ago? Seriously? I want your delusion on record here.
Change in total number of manufacturing jobs in metropolitan areas, 1954–2002.
They sure had it great economically. What a silly thing to say.
Ha ha, great source citing, TDarcos. It's either bullshit sources with you, or legit sources you're too dumb to read. This is a chart of the total change in manufacturing jobs in 2002 compared to 1954 levels. Between Boomers and Millennials, guess which one was already close to retirement and which was just entering the workforce in 2002? It also makes no mention of when those jobs declined. I'm betting you it wasn't pre 70s!
Yes, house prices were lower, which is probably the one factoid bubbling around your head. Average APR in 1980 was 13%. What a historic economic advantage over a family looking to purchase a home now at 4.00%.
"Hmmm yes YOU probably think house prices had something to do with the ability to buy a house! Psssh, well let me tell you that APR is all that matters divorced from any other factors! Millennials work hard? More like HARDLY WORKING!"
What's this Great Recession thing people are talking about? Probably some liberal media myth. People are buying affordable homes at over triple the rate of the early 80s, more college grads are debt free than ever, rent is perfectly reasonable compared to decades ago, medical costs are under control, and good paying jobs with benefits and security are so plentiful that we're back to one working family member easily supporting an entire family!
Mischief, you're the one with the patience to deal with this idiot. Maybe you're in the mood to wipe off the libertarian drool. |
