| Tarantino was the guy who had a bystander get shot in the hip of her mom jeans a decade before the term was invented. That's a sadist's arrow tipped with razor-sharp observation. He has some kind of personality disorder now and thinks that if he does it, it's shocking/inappropriate. Hanging her and letting her dangle until she stops breathing - maybe if he handled it with even a tiny amount of the cinematic flair he used with the ear removal in Reservoir Dogs, it might be interesting, but it was just a series of close-ups and the guys laughing, then they get a stupid closer and then they're dead. I'm sure there are through lines like the ones MM described for Drive, but Drive still sucks, and so does the ending of this movie. | ||||
