Ha ha ha, ok! Jokes aside. I know what you mean.
There's no pressing incentive especially if the person is not motivated, is dishonest, and/or otherwise incapable of budgeting a lump sum of cash. Kickstarter has a soft, basically unenforced, 3 year limit for a project to deliver (last time I checked). As with most of the KS policy/liabilities it hasn't yet been fully tested in court. Obviously you can't guarantee success, but I do think it's worth taking action against straight up scams, and maybe financial audits available to backers for mega projects that walk with large amounts of cash.
Recently I haven't bothered funding anything as the projects are usually quite successful, and then available to a larger audience (unless they make it clear it'll be exclusive for backers). There's already a number of smaller things in progress and my interest in more thank you trinkets, or dream subsidy is nil right now (y-YOU MONSTER!!!). |
