If you put this side by side with episodes 1&2, you would swear this one was the free proof of concept version while the latter was the $25 commercial product.
I have no clue why the combat runs so much shittier (and crashes!) this time around.
Everything just seems like an early beta placeholder: the upgrade menus, the combat, the firing animations, even the dialog! While the plot for the free game was mostly anime harem hijinks crap, there were slivers of interesting bits like whether you could trust the Space UN and the admiral. It was all Kurosawa compared to this. "Just put in whatever dialog and don't care about pacing or scene order. We'll come back and finish it after we're done with the flashy pledge goal features."
An indie game outfit dropping the ball after receiving a crowdfunded influx of cash. They apparently hired people to animated cutscenes (moving stills) and then blew more money flying to Japan for voice recording sessions. Then they ran out of money and had to shove it out the door? How the hell does it run so much shittier than the free version when it's just different scenarios for the exact same game? |
