Nobody wants to hear that wealth isn't a zero-sum game in a society constantly telling us that the American Dream is real while it forecloses on your house. If my options are to commit insurance fraud by suicide like Willy Lowman or be told that I already lived the dream, I'm not gonna learn the next hot programming language a big company like Google or Microsoft is backing. I'm just gonna grease the tax burdens and mortgage payments with my own rage. "Take this money and go fuck yourself! I had an expectation of my stocks and bonds giving me an easy retirement, you should be hit as hard as I am!"

I suppose the context is american, but what do you think is going on in the other current/former superpowers? There's a guy in India right now looking at the trash piles in every waterway and asking where his cut of the new economy is.
