Top Ten Reasons your Corporation / LLC is in (insert city name here) by Commander Tansin A. Darcos 03/31/2016, 5:24pm PDT
From an E-mail I sent a friend:

From the home office in University Park, MD, Viridian Development Corporation presents: "Top 10 reasons your corporation has moved"
(not affiliated with Worldwide Pants, Incorporated).

10. Mitt Romney said "corporations are people too," so it moved because it felt the climate, the neighborhood or the environment was better.
9. Taxes were lower. (The big thing these days is for corporations to re-charter in Canada because the corporate taxes are less than the US.)
8. Regulatory climate is better. (Some states are really hostile to business.)
7. Liked the name of the new location (a porn producer used mailing addresses in Pennsylvania so he could send out material from the towns of "Blue Balls" and "Intercourse".)
6. Corporate governance rules more favorable (which is why a large number of public companies are chartered in Delaware even if they don't operate there.)
5. Easier to get employees to show up because parking or public transportation is closer and/or cheaper.
4. Less expensive to operate (or why I use my sister's address in Virginia for free as the corporation's registered address instead of paying a registered agent upwards of $100 a year.)
3. CEO or Chairman's boyfriend and/or girlfriend lives there, so they moved to be near them.
2. Moved to escape potential legal problems (RKO General was in danger of losing its license for New York City television station WOR because of corporate misconduct, so it got a congressman to write a law (that was passed and signed by the President) that provided for automatic license renewal for any TV station that moved to a state that had no TV stations. At that time the only states with no TV stations were New Jersey and Delaware, so WOR moved to Secacus, New Jersey.)
1. The registered agent moved to the new corporate address and took all of the corporations using them to the new location.
