Hiillary has stated she wants to end the "Charleston Loophole," in which the shooter who kill.ed all those people in the church in Charleston was allowed to buy a weapon despite having a misdemeanor conviction. The FBI did not inform the seller within 3 days that there was a reason to refuse the sale, because not every criminal offense disqualifies one from purchasing a weapon. To have that happen, you either have to be convicted of a felony, a misdemeanor involving some form of violence such as an assault, or a non-ex-parte order of protection for something equivalent to stalking.
The system worked correctly because the man did not have a disqualifying conviction. For example, if you get a traffic ticket, in some states, if you don't show up, you're simply convicted in absentia and have your license suspende4d. In other states you will then be charged with the misdemeanor offense of failing to appear on the original ticket. If you end up pleading guilty it represents a misdemeanor conviction but is not a crime of violence and would not disqualify you from buying or owning a weapon.
Since the guy had no disqualifiiers the FBI - correctly - raised no objections, and the sale went through. So Hillary would "fiox" this so-called loophole, by eliminating any limit on how long the FBI is allowed to take to approve a sale. So when you're waiting three, six, twelve months and the FBI still hasn't approved your purchase, then what? Now, let's say the next step is a 60-70% sales tax on ammunition, plus requiring all firearms to be regiistered, with, say, a yearly $5,000 tax stamp for handguns, rifles and shotguns, plus also requiring a license to even buy ammunition.
It ain't hard to figure ways that could be done by liberals to effectively outlaw private ownership of guns the way the republicans have tried to effectively outlaw abortions.
