I was appalled because my memory is poor -- I thought you meant this game. Who understands Google? I searched for "the flickery blurry headache game" and OMM was number 5. I searched for the actual quote, "blurry flickering headache game" and OMM is number 7.
I guess for me it'd be Age of Empires III. I still have my multiplayer login information, and since it's been available on Steam I've played it a number of times. The card game mechanic is really great, and the units and maps are interesting. The graphics are quite dated now however. The fact that the different factions say things in their native languages is really cool. I spoke to a Dutch coworker about what the Dutch guys are saying in the game, repeating the phrases from memory. She said, "that's 'tree cutter'" (sounded like "how tuckert") and sure enough, when I checked they only said that when assigned to cut down trees. That and "ick do hit", I do it. I figured out "okay" all by myself. I forget the other ones now.
I'll be picking up Lords of Magic off GOG pretty soon. I saw it on there and thought, "oh they must have made it work without IPX/SPX" but then I saw the note: requires IPX/SPX emulator. Yes, good times. And the reason for the 98 SE disk I mentioned. But since somebody made such a thing, I guess it's all good. That game has some of the dumbest/best voice work. I'm sure I've mentioned this elsewhere, but the air butterfly warriors are hilarious, and my friend especially loved the life (elf) female rogue hero, who said things like "Loaded and ready". "I like her attitude!" he'd say.
I've put in 600 hours on Terraria and probably more than double that on Minecraft. Because I have a degenerative brain disease, clearly. And some thousand+ hours on Gal Civ 2 and 300 on gc 3 now. |
