It's... okay! by pinback 08/25/2016, 7:49pm PDT
It is right now a good choice for those looking for a "lite" space 4X experience with good production values. It breaks absolutely zero new ground, and loses ground on fronts such as combat and ship design. But it's presented well, and energetically enough that if you can't get enough of being given a colony ship and two scouts to go out, find some decent planets, build a bunch of research labs and factories and farms and shit everywhere, and traipse through a pretty standard tech tree, and do the ol' 4X thing, it's a nice diversion.

It is streamlined to a fault, and feels thin all the way around. At least this is apparent quickly, so you don't have to dive for depth for hours to come up lacking -- it's lacking from the start.

But! I mean. I've spent many an hour clicking "next turn" in the game, and had what I can only describe as "fun" while doing so, so it's just a formula that will always appeal to me.

So yeah. It's... not terrible. Not anywhere near great. It's fine. It's fine!

It's okay.
