It still suffers from the plague of Total War lategame - your borders come so huge and porous that entire armies can slip in and burn everything to the ground like the Mexicans Trump warned us about (ho ho ho topical humor)

But the engine seems to perform really well so I don't dread loading into a battle map anymore and a lot of the aspects like siege engines are way more fun than Attila/Rome II era weapons. Seeing a cannonball knock Chaos demons flat is very satisfying.
