I created this thread so that we can highlight some of Paul's noble characteristics and why he is appreciated around here.
I am shocked that someone here actually said something positive about me for once. I'm really impressed, and I suppose for a few minutes I'll be thinking that maybe I've misjudged the people here. Then someone will come along and accuse me of having any number of psychological conditions starting with the letter "a" and I'll go back to believing the worst about this place. But sometimes I am amazed, and this is one of those times.

1. Paul never bitches about his situation.
I got myself into this mess, and there's no point complaining, or at least, not publicly. Sometimes I do so privately because sometimes it seems like the Universe is "piling on" in which whatever problems I have have to be compounded by others. But complaining or whining about it doesn't solve the problem. Venting can make it easier to not get mad about it or allow me to dissipate whatever bad feelings I have without being angry, the way a teapot doesn't explode the way a pressure cooker can if it's overheated. "I'm a little teapot, short and stout," (at least, if "stout" is a euphemism for heavy-set). And I know I'm short, every time I visit a Home Depot when I enter the building and pass by the height tape at the entrance, it always shows me as being 4'6" (137 cm). Although I wonder why my driver's license - yes, I still have one - says I'm 6'2" (188 cm). So I don't store up my anger, I blow off steam as it happens.

2. He is incredibly generous in sharing the knowledge he has accumulated through his years.
I express my opinions here because I like to hear feedback. I may be wrong; I have been wrong countless times. But if I wanted no comment at all, I'd post it on my blog. I may disagree with some comments but as long as they are reasonable and non-insulting I'll respect them. And if I am wrong I can learn something.

3. He is actually pretty damn friendly.
I've tried very hard to be that way. There's no need for meanness or cruelty; the world is indifferent to us and shows us enough of that to begin with, All we have is each other and being nasty doesn't help. (Now, I'll admit, being nasty to someone who did it first can sometimes be fun, but as Robert A. Heinlein wrote in one of his books, "You can collect more flies with honey than prussic acid.")
