10:58 AM - Me: fo shizzy 10:59 AM - Me: video game writers shouldn't be allowed to write dialogue for teenagers 10:59 AM - Friend: wtf. why r u quoting life is strange verbatim [he doesn't have amazing powers of deduction, I was playing the game on Steam at the time] 10:59 AM - Friend: yeah lol i wound up quitting that game just because i think i died a little bit inside every time i heard the main girl say wowsers 11:01 AM - Me: OH GOD. she just replied to a text message with "kek" 11:02 AM - Friend: how far are you into that. i got to like episode 2 and quit so i don't remember that at all 11:02 AM - Me: and i just got to the part where she said "wowser" checking a map :( 11:02 AM - Me: i think i'm near the end of episode 1 11:02 AM - Me: her weiner guy friend texted her a picture of him with a black eye and then they had some back and forth and she replied to one of his texts with that 11:03 AM - Friend: did you get to the worst quote ever 11:03 AM - Me: all of them? 11:04 AM - Me: was it 'have a seat, pete' 11:04 AM - Friend: there's one that is like the worst possible but i think if that guy has a black eye you already got past it, that rich girl is like "fuck your selfie" 11:05 AM - Me: oh, yeah, that was way earlier before you had to dump paint on her 11:06 AM - Me: he's so hella fucking paranoid 11:12 AM - Me: there's something else i have to tell you. something.....hardcore ... 11:34 AM - Friend: meanwhile i saw one of the best pieces of game writing ever when i made a huge mistake and started up ff13-2 11:35 AM - Friend: like in the first actual area where you can explore, one of the two main characters seriously says something like "if we learn more about it we'll know more" about some meteorite So what's episode 2 like 
:(This game is brimming with interactive things to look at that serve no functional purpose other than to pad out the time played. Then there's things that seem like they might be relevant but aren't, like walking around Chloe's house turning on all the lights and TVs and unlocking doors and leaving them wide open. Will other characters acknowledge this with consequences? Nope! Then there's the adventure game staple of retarded puzzles. Oh shit, I was trying to get a case of precision screwdrivers and they fell under a shelf. I can't just squat down and reach under the shelf because....my....degenerative bone disease.....I have to rewind time and slide some cardboard underneath so they'll land on that and I can slide it back out. Later I have to wander around a junk yard and find 5 bottles hidden in plain sight, only I have to move a board to reach one. Such thrills! I can take photos and I get achievements, but is there a payoff other than filling up my diary? I get text messages, but who gives a shit? Are they ever relevant? I get threatened by a kid and his dad via traceable text message, but I'm careful to never ever bring it up to anyone ever. This is such a step back after playing Dropsy. |
