I think Ant-Man's convoluted story came about because many comic book writers are hacks, and almost all screenplay writers are hacks.
Comic book writers are hacks because they don't just invent new characters, so you've got Scott Lang and Hank Pym BOTH as Ant-Man. Dumb. Scott Lang's a much better character than Pym was in 60 years but rather than make someone new they use the same names for characters and get everything messed up.
Script writers are hacks. They had Michael Douglas involved for some reason, but he's an older fella. It doesn't make any sense, it's dumb and it reeks of having the actor signed up without a clear idea of who he was gonna play. Dumb dumb dumb, If you aren't gonna use the first guy then just ignore him and make a movie with Paul Rudd. |
