The light/dark transition is fun and they switch it to a seasons section later. The conversations go a bit too long and the puzzles are easy but at least nothing was stupid. The solutions don't tend to be far away, especially with the scene switching, so there's not the tedious trekking you get in other games, which is a great way get around this problem. A knife you pick up is useful the entire time you have it instead of being thrown away after being used in one puzzle.

The little girl switches from stupidly naive "red milk" to "bloody corpse" language constantly but that may have been deliberate. There were some fun mini-games between chapters and I wish there had been more of them. There's clear nods to the Alice in Wonderland inspiration but it's not a ripoff, the artwork is great, and you get the feeling that this was thoroughly playtested before it was released. The ending is ambiguous but wasn't a complete cop-out although the explanation felt incredibly rushed at the end.

And holy shit, Wadget Eye needs to change to whatever engine this game used instead of using the crippled AGS under the excuse of being "retro". A fucking Frogger minigame isn't much but it's more than Technobabylon offered.

If Armikrog, Life is Strange, Her Story, and Broken Age hadn't sucked the oxygen out of 2015's adventure game scene this would've gotten more attention.

I think the game had one real puzzle in the entire first area and it turned out to be bullshit (asylum door code). After the asylum, the dark world is completely redundant because the areas are already fucked up Alice in Wonderland scenes. Every single screen reminded me of Erik pointing out that AiW was already fucked up and all the dark world transition does is add an American McGee's bloodstain or crooked door.

If you loved Fran Bow but put Life is Strange on the same level as Her Story, we're probably not going to agree on anything :(
