'Bernie or Bust' crowd? wrote:
Were they right? Or is it just easier to get a crowd pop when on opposition?
I know, I know, a lot of questions. I am curious!
These are two different situations.
The first situation was the end of the election where it should have been abundantly clear that Trump was going to be a nightmare and as nauseating as Hillary's campaign was, she wasn't going to harm people like Trump and his Nazi cabinet (yes, Nazi, look up Steve Bannon's favorite book "The Camp of the Saints"). I never pretended she was anything more than a lesser evil nor that I didn't have to hold my nose to vote for her. Now in retrospect it might have helped to have more people who were going to vote for Clinton actually say they were going to vote for Stein to force Hillary to move left and improve her campaign message, but she was such a weak candidate I feared at the time that it would only convince wavering undecideds to stay home or vote Trump. But on election day the time for bluffing was past and allowing an unstable monster like Trump into the White House to punish a craven old woman was unacceptable and I stand by that.
Now that we're living in the worst case scenario, there is nothing to be gained by supporting Clinton and her ship of fools. The nauseating campaign they were arrogantly certain would squash Trump failed spectacularly, as the polls threatened during the primary when I was on the side of the Bernie or Busters. The Democrats and Republicans have an effective cartel over political power in the United States and the only option that I can see for salvaging this country is to throw the Clinton Wing off the DNC boat. Fuck Hillary, fuck David Brock, fuck Tom Perez, and so on. These people lack the competence to obstruct Trump, much less unseat him. So in this situation I'm on the side of the Bernie or Busters again. Despite the Clinton Wing's crowing about "Purity Testing Bernie Bros" I understand why the Busters made their terrible mistake and I'm not going to let my prior disagreement get in the way of working with them to advance a goal. |
