When it comes to Meals on Wheels, the program that feeds 2.4 million elderly Americans would, under Trump’s budget, have to do without the 3 percent of its funding it receives through the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) and the CDBG program. As the Cato Institute’s Walter Olson observed, 35 percent of Meals on Wheels’ federal funding comes from the yet-untouched Older Americans Act. The vast majority of the program’s budget (84 percent) is derived from corporate and foundation grants and individual contributions.
What is this supposed to prove? It won't completely bankrupt a service that keeps people from starving to death so by all means cut the funding and put it towards walls and capital gains tax cuts?
Taking even one single dollar of government funding from meals on wheels in order to put it towards their horseshit agenda is indefensible. Jesus christ, even Ebeneezer Scrooge
"Private charity will pick up the slack once we eliminate government assistance" has been their justification for every shithead move to eliminate the social safety net since Reagan. Looks at this loser, not trusting corporate grants and the Koch brothers to take care of everyone!
