| Great Leader is the military dictator of planet Solo Nobre. He cut his planet off from space corporation control for decades by building a network of orbital guns to shoot down any invading force. The SNC seeks to recapture the planet and their strategy for starting the invasion is to pay off individual military units already on the planet to turn traitor and destroy the orbital guns before the main force has a chance to react. These traitors are called Brigadors. In the campaign you play several different Brigadors, each with their own different vehicles assigned. The black dude with the cigarette (I haven't unlocked him for freelance yet so I don't know his name) is the Brigador with a Touro mech in campaign mode.
The real meat of the game is Freelance mode where you go through a series of maps with randomized enemy forces using your own custom-chosen pilot, vehicle, and weapons loadout. All that said, the game is supposed to re-launch June 2nd and one of the things being offered is a new tutorial so maybe the plot will be easier to pick up then. The companion novel is surprisingly good. |
