This game sucks.

Neat looking voxel-based gladiator management game.

You run a "ludus" or stable of gladiators in ancient Rome. YOu are trying to train up for a big tournament 365 days from now. You spend 75% of the game looking at a management screen a la XCOM and 25% watching gladiator fights autoresolve.

Your gladiators each have their own stats, gear etc. You invest in different trainers who boost stat/equipment gain in different ways. But the most important stat by far is HP, which cannot really be trained very high in the course of a year. So if you actually want viable gladiators you have to buy them from these two slave vendor guys. The slaves you buy have crazy high HP, whereas the slaves you win from successful fights always start with all stats at 0. Nowhere is this disparity documented or justified.

You fund all this with gold that your guys win in fights. There are some other resources but they are totally vestigial and can be completely ignored.

The fights: isometric real time WASD brawler. They unfold really fast. Could be some cool bushido blade thing but it isn't, It's just spreadsheets rubbing together with really spastic footsies that I could not manually control. Your guys have an "AI Proficiency" stat that they can train up alongside their HP, damage, etc. The current "meta" is to max out AI score first so your guys can pull off the footsies. You can control the fighter manually if you want but you can get really waxed up when the AI starts hopping around turbo fast.

You don't really make any choices. You just keep your guys geared up, turn down fights they can't handle (you get to see the opponents' stats before you fight), and just watch your guys' voxels smush into the enemy guys' voxels.

Do not buy, waste of my life, etc. The voxel fights look cool though, good animations and very satisfying gory and brutal sword impacts.
