Well, I got a payment due notice from Paypal Credit by Commander Tansin A. Darcos 07/29/2017, 8:57pm PDT
I have a Paypal Credit account with a $500 limit that I use for eBay purchases and usually I just pay it off. So today in my email was a payment due notice from Paypal. I click on the link and it goes to Paypal where I log in and discover that I did not pay the full bill.

Amount due: $0.09

So, anyway, I authorized a direct debit for the charge, saving me 46c* postage. With direct payments it's much less expensive to pay a bill as the credit union doesn't charge me extra, I'm not charged by the biller (it used to be a credit card company could often charge an obscene $15 to pay them electronically) and I don't pay postage.

* I took a trial offer from Pitney Bowes, try one of their meters free for 60 days - just pay for postage - and after that it's a two year rental contract at $20 a month with $20 each month in free postage. I threw $50 at it and really didn't use it that much. I have no idea how they make any money on this deal. Well, the normal price for First Class postage - the so called "Forever" stamp - is 49c but when mail is metered there is a 6% discount, or 3c, making a First-Class letter cost 46c for the first ounce if mailed with a meter indicia. I returned the meter last month, I don't do enough mailing to justify it, but if I was doing enough letters and packages to use $20 in postage monthly I'd rent one.

I ended up dumping the remaining postage onto labels of value 46c each that I can stick on envelopes as needed. I think I have about 50 left, which will probably last me until the end of the year. Since the labels are marked as to the postage meter license I can continue to use them after I no longer have the meter. I set the meter to not print the date the postage was printed so I can use them anytime.
