| As an unashamed fan of Jack Reacher, I should have loved this.
It wasn't bad, it was just....just. No quick cut paint mixer action sequences, just steady shots. A self aware ridiculous premise. It's just...lacking something. Reeves lacking the intensity of Cruise? Reeves insisting on doing all his one stunts for the long takes? Some of those hand to hand fights in the first hit squad scene were embarrassing, almost modern Stephen Seagal bad. There should be brutal ADR sound effects to feel the impact of hits, but there isn't. There should be way more blood to the gun shots. Scenes are set up to be ridiculous but they're never brilliant like the bathroom fight in Jack Reacher. I'd rate it a "good enough" afternoon matinee. |
