like a sad man with no purpose in life a professional. Plus, at the start of each level it kept telling me Koba's score, so naturally I had to prove I'm better than him. It looks like he gave up 3/4ths of the way through the game, though, so I was able to set uncontested high scores all the way to the end. On the other hand, he didn't have to play 25% of the game, so it's kind of a pyrrhic victory. :(

I went out of my way to get a stealth completion on nearly every single level, because getting spotted meant the game would just devolve into a cover shooter.

There's more assassination levels throughout the game, but you either travel from point A to B and assassinate someone at the end (one level is a linear corridor with one single side vent at the very end), or the target loops on a fixed route with exactly one SUPER obvious place to kill them without being noticed. So those levels just turn into an exercise of waiting for them to patrol to that one location.

The non-assassination levels were just small mazes where some of the walls were patrol routes.

Early on it became blatantly obvious that each section of every level was divided into subsections with NPCs that didn't "activate" until you crossed some invisible boundary. Rather than a level simply being populated with clockwork people that just operated on their own from the start, they'd stand in some fixed position until you crossed some boundary line that triggered dialogue before they started a patrol route. If you never crossed that line, they'd stay in place forever. On the other hand, some NPC actions were only triggered by crossing that line. The most egregious was an assassination late in the game in the penthouse level. The target would patrol on a particular loop until you either got relatively close to her or wandered into the one spot you could silently kill her. Then she changed her patrol route to accommodate you murdering her. To further accommodate you murdering her, when she got to her murder spot she ordered her bodyguards away! Thanks for the challenge, game.

The game also ended as it began: watching a cutscene of you assassinating someone instead of letting you actually do it. In the first level I charitably assumed it was because they thought it would look goofy if you were able to shoot the person in the head and then watched a cutscene where they talked and gargled up blood. NOPE! That exact scenario played out in a later level.

One thing I will take back is complaining about being docked points for killing people (at least non-civilians). If you hide the body, you get the points back (but you do forfeit the Silent Assassin bonus).
