Here is why some sites don't like the word "gameplay." by Ice Cream Jonsey 10/07/2017, 10:21am PDT
The Amiga Power List of Death

That's it, that's the only reason. Amiga Power was the seminal magazine for genuinely funny computer game discussion and websites. Caltrops wouldn't still be around without it. I was working at Xerox as an $8.60/hour manual tester for printer drivers in 1997. I didn't even have an internet connection at home, I was still a dial-up BBS guy. I used the Internet at college and work and that was it. One day, at 5:00PM on a Friday, I typed "amiga" into a search engine at work and found the Amiga Power site. I left work at 11:00PM that night because I read everything that was there, completely transfixed. They cared about games, were genuinely hilarious and while Amiga Power was influenced by Your Sinclair, they had a lot of their own original takes on things, too. It seemed like it was a cool place to work and they were creating something unique. The only websites that I know of that came close to capturing the fun of an issue of Amiga Power were OMM, Fail Math and this one, but the influence on others minus the attempts at being funny is high. RPS hates the word gameplay because AP hated the word gameplay, I doubt the reviews on RPS use the word "very" or "nice" or other words in the list of death much either. I read RPS a couple times a week, it's a good site that engages in a controversy like this once a quarter. Some of my friends have written for them and they have all had good intentions. Some of the dumbest things I've ever read in my life has been comments from their readers on their posts, so I credit them for the discipline in only blowing the pipes out every three months.
