Scan your binoculars around to tag targets "beyond visual range" (the draw distance kind of sucks). Next, take out your dirty old M4 that's literally covered in dirt, and pack some more dirt into the chamber using the forward assist. Now, point your M4 vaguely in the direction of one of the green triangles and fire in short, controlled bursts. Autoaim will guide your bullets home. Repeat until all the triangles are gone.
See that mountain? That's a wall. All the mountains are walls. You can't go anywhere, you can't do anything. You can steal a jeep that handles like a golf cart in Grand Theft Auto III. Enjoy the seagulls while you can, they seemed to give up on putting animals in the maps after the first couple.
I wonder which way I'm supposed to go here? The tactical possibilities are endless. For example, I could jump off the bridge, then swim around to the tiny patch of beach that isn't an impassible wall, then climb back up to where I am and not jump off the bridge this time. Or I could... no, that about covers it.
This massive battle is like being dropped right in the middle of a team deathmatch in Unreal Tournament 2004. Only everybody's a bot and I'm not on any team, I'm just here to observe and move on. When you've played as many hours of Far Cry Classic as I have, an exciting scene like this just looks like slow moving traffic.
Everything is beautiful and I can't enjoy any of it. Maybe it's because I have clinical depression. Maybe it's because I have experience with way better games and beaches. You should probably try this one for yourself. |
