The end of this sucked so bad I deleted it and will say don't buy it by Rafiki 10/20/2017, 9:18pm PDT
The final area, Arx, already felt like a bit of a slog. There was one spot in particular where undead enemies are located and if there's any cursed fire around then the undead will instantly respawn upon death. Without getting into exhaustive detail why, for all practical purposes you can't clear out the cursed fire. Furthermore, the enemies themselves can drop cursed fire, so even if you could clear out the existing fire someone thought it would be a good idea to give enemies the ability to infinitely respawn themselves. The solution here was to just use teleport skills and lockpick my way through, avoiding combat altogether. If you didn't have a character with lockpicking and wanted to do it the "proper" way and grab the necessary keys, you're pretty much locked in an unwinnable fight and will have to take 3 hours to run through the building and loot within combat. So just go back to the ship and temporarily respec your character.

Then, right before the finale, there's a room where 12 or so enemies spawn which means one round of combat is already going to take an eternity. I was able to clear out whole groups pretty easily, but they respawn and take their turn before the current round is over. They don't even have the decency to give you a one-round respite, instead they just fuck you over. The solution is to ignore the enemies completely and just run straight for your objective, but the enemies can polymorph your entire party which means you lose control for 2 turns in which case there's a very good chance you'll die, and they can spawn a fog that insta-kills anyone in it who is not undead. It was several reloads of agonizing trial and error until I was able to rush through.

Then the final fucking boss fight. Once again, between you, the enemies, and the NPCs, there's like 15 fucking characters so one round takes forever. After about 40 minutes, I manage to kill the boss, but my primary character died during the fight. The game doesn't give me a chance to regroup and resurrect before continuing, instead it automatically launches me into a dialogue with a different character. In a game that prides itself on giving you a wide variety of choices for how you approach quests and progress, I'm strong-armed into finishing the game in a way I don't want to. Whatever, fuck it, I'm at the end. So I click through the dialog and then watch a cutscene, and it turns out that's not where the credits roll. Instead, it puts me back in the game, but my party is disbanded and it's only my main character. Who's dead. So I get a GAME OVER screen and my only option is to reload and replay the final boss all over again. Fuck. That.
