The worst tech trend I know of is programmers buying their stupid brushed aluminum laptops and claiming that real programming should happen on hackintosh keyboards despite the utility of most any normal layout. There are more of them every year being dumped into America's overpopulated code-writing labor market, bringing down the price of programmer labor and increasing the cost of entry by a few hundred bucks by normalizing ownership of poorly designed airbrushed aluminum fashion accessories. You're more of a for-real successful programmer if you have an apple smartwatch and apple airpods and an apple phone and tablet and macbook, it is easier to get hired because you can distinguish yourself slightly from the pile of CS majors you're competing with.
Don't send your kids to school to learn to code unless you want them to turn into underemployed logo-worshipping dorks. |
