I liked how the girl was as close to naked as they could probably get her to agree to. I liked the way her (CGI?) lats flexed when she was tearing the hatch off that ED-209. It made me want to work harder on my own lats. I liked the design of the guns and I *loved* the design of the cars. Very Ridge Racer 1! I liked how many of the shots from the cartoon they were able to recreate without making the movie itself look like a cartoon. At no point did I get that Who Framed Roger Rabbit? feeling I had all throughout the parts of Rogue One I didn't sleep through. I liked how the story was easier to follow than the cartoon (was it even the same story? it's been a while, but I thought that one had an AI in it?) and the ending didn't set off my perv alarm the way the cartoon's did and every Japanese cartoon does. I liked seeing Beat Takeshi reprise his role from the extended laserdisc cut of Johnny Mnemonic, which is seriously one of my favourite movies of all time. I wish they could've got the dolphin to come back, too, but I don't know how long those things live. Especially in captivity and hooked up to virtual reality.
I was okay with the whitewashing because let's be honest, if the Japs ever build a robot body it's going to be the most caucasian thing you've ever seen. Even if it doesn't come off the line that way the first owner's just going to mod it like his Honda Civic. For performance reasons alone they're going to want a big air intake, and for a hot lady robot robot that means a big gaijin nose. The other big gaijin parts are in case they get front or rear ended. Wonderful movie. |
