| I've spent about five years hacking on the thing at this point - my first serious development files on it are dated early 2013. The scope was a little bit bigger than this when I started, but by the end it was a relentless deathmarch just to get to here, and I dropped a few scenarios of things that I had planned as things that could have happened to you along the way. A few still have stubs here and there in the code - many are just crossed out in my design doc, because, nope. Building those scenarios took a lot of the time, and each one of them is really cool the first time it happens to you, and... totally routine every subsequent time. Lousy return, but they are such a core part of the whole point of the experience I was trying to make.
(Funny thing, I started this before Duskers was announced, and I've never played Fear Equation - hadn't even heard of it before people started mentioning it as similar. I think we're all just drawing from a similar mythos.) The reception it has gotten has been way better than I expected. For now, I'm just fixing bugs as fast as I can. It's possible that I might add a few more small things once I've fixed everything I can... I'm not going to rule it out, but I'm also not going to make any promises. People seem to think everything is Early Access these days. Given that what you see is five years, the math says you aren't going to see a big expansion in a few months no matter what. My approach from here is pretty much, keep supporting it, be the museum curator answering questions about it until the world moves on, and to be happy that I contributed something. It seems to have found a small cult audience of people who Get It. I'm really happy about that. Thank you. |
