Amazon Trying to Fix Alexa’s Creepy, Spontaneous Laughter by blackwater 03/07/2018, 3:18pm PST
... sounds like a headline you'd read in the Onion, but it's apparently real.

The Twitter thread is a gold mine.

Amazon Alexa users are saying the device is laughing at inappropriate moments and doing things like reading off names of funeral homes unprompted. Amazon told The Verge it is working on a fix.

It's interesting that the Twitter thread mentions "reading off names of funeral homes unprompted." The news articles don't mention that detail. This could be a case of social media users bullshitting each other. If not, then I guess a disgruntled employee at Amazon decided to leave a little surprise in the code before he left.

Having an office conversation about pretty confidential stuff and Alexa just laughed. Anybody else ever have that? It didn't chime as if we had accidentally triggered her to wake. She simply just laughed. It was really creepy.

Alexa is laughing because Amazon is about to destroy their business and replace them all with disposable minimum wage "gig economy" millennials.

Look in your heart. You know it's true.

"They just wanted to turn off the lights. 'After the third request, Alexa stopped responding and instead did an evil laugh.'"
