He worked his whole life as a public relations man, and the big job, which he blew, was Miller Lite. New product, and his push was how it would help you save weight as you lost your mind and over indulged. Totally wrong take, complete failure, he ended up a college professor at an extension college as he got to watch the current Miller Lite campaign take off so far it became like an internet meme before we had the internet. "Tastes great, less filling." Those four words summed up his failure. Anyway, he was a great professor. One day, I asked him: "What qualifies you to teach this class." Because the class was journalism. And he laid it out, because he had lived it, and then flat out said it: "Because all I did was write good copy for journalists to rewrite. Because it doesn't matter who owns the newspaper. Because PR agencies rule the world!" |
