My understanding is electric cars draw a lot of power to recharge. Now, the problem is in residential areas, the grid is designed for less draw than where industrial or commercial buildings are located. I've heard a Tesla recharging can draw 70 amps, which is probably 1/3 of what your house draws. Start having a bunch of electric vehicles plugged in a neighborhood and notice as it starts to have brownouts from too much draw on the already near-capacity power grid. |
