What do you think of the concept of "The Purge"? by Commander Tansin A. Darcos 05/24/2018, 3:33am PDT
I have not watched any of the films but "The Purge" franchise is a series of movies in which for one night - 7pm to 7am - all crime (with limited exceptions) goes unprosecuted and unpunished. Murder, rape, arson, home invasion, jaywalking, it's all legal. There's also no public services: no ambulance, fire or police. The exception to all crime being permitted is you can't assassinate any politicians or public officials.

I see this sort of thing as a crude "eat the poor" screening device, since reasonably middle class can buy barricading equipment and weapons to set up a panic room for one night a year. Rich people can have fortresses. Poor people who don't have rich friends become fodder for the reprobates who infest the night.

To me, I'm wondering, how long before the poor realize what this means and go after the politicians who allow this?

What's your take on it?
