| Good manifestation of our scale problems second to maybe the plastic concentration in the Pacific. An obvious hurdle is the amount of energy to hit escape velocity. One way to make it more economical might be larger groups & multiple stations.
Others areas to consider:
Space mining: Earth has a physical limit. Anything we can grab off-planet is bonus Energy: Solar should be great since there's no cloud cover ;) although nothing is that easy. Humans still have a long way to go with collection & storage compared to plant photosynthesis Most of this is through the prism of 'military as bridge builders'. Bad idea would be focusing the missile defense notions of the 80s. Tests fail constantly on Earth with all kinds of specialized secret tech as it is. Putting space weapons pointing at everywhere is asking for catastrophic downsides. Raytheon & NorthropGrumman et al are likely already spinning ad copy to sell the Government on OUR GREAT BIG DATA TELEMETRY IS UNPARALLELED FOR POWERING MODERN SPACEOPS blah blah blah and how there would for sure never be unintended consequences in space warfare as long as you pay us billions yesterday... |
