That's a good point and a great idea, but the problem is it don't work that way. I had to think for a moment why.
The front axle is the "power" axle and spins the two drive wheels. They are locked in place and can only roll forward or back, in sync..
The rear axle is the "turn" axle, and is split in half to allow the two unpowered wheels complete freedom of movement, allowing each to spin up to 360 degrees in order to turn the chair as needed. That means each wheel is independent, can stay where it is or turn as needed. So the wheel can turn on the right, or on the left, as desired by the controller. This can cause anything wrapped around the axle of either rear wheel to be twised and wrapped around it as well. |
