Here is something I noticed. I write test automation software and I frequently use a pattern where I will wait 3 seconds before something loads and if it doesn't load in that time I fail the test.
Some people wait for an element to be displayed. They will time it out after 30 or 60 seconds. This also means that when things are running correctly, the test can run super fast, far faster than a human can do stuff.
My take is - hey, if this shit isn't loading in time, fail the test and let me know. The take from others is SEEMINGLY (I may have it wrong, I am not them) is that performance testing can be done in other ways.
So anyway, this at leaves gives me righteousness in that I am trying to do something about it. Games are probably their own category due to how much depends on the player's system. (I am not calling your system shit.)
