New Optimus Prime transformer toy by laudablepuss 06/26/2007, 3:35pm PDT
FUCKING KICKS ASS.

All of the new (pre-movie) toys were pretty good and a major improvement, generally, over the toys that were around when I was a kid. Remember the horrid Iron Hide toy? WTF was that? But now I have a Cliff Jumper here who looks just like he did in the cartoon, with articulated knees and elbows and stuff. The Jetfire and pre-movie Optimus Prime/Ultra Magnus toys are also terrific. I don't have it, but the pre-movie Megatron looks fucking awesome -- and JUST like the cartoon.

So now they have the toys for this new movie, and while StarScream and Ratchet didn't impress me (from just viewing the box) the Optimus Prime toy is a work of art.

Pros
Transforms and looks just like how you see in the movie
Rubber tires and rolls really well. He's a pretty sweet truck.
Looks great, stable feet and very posable. Even his fingers individually move.

Cons
Silly noises yet DOESN'T yell "Autobots! Transform and roll out!" :(
Some scary moments when I initially transfromed him, using the instructions. I was afraid I'd accidentally break him, cuz I'm dumb. Along those lines, a 5 year-old, like what the package says it's for, would destroy this thing or require you to transform it for him every 2 minutes. Should say "for ages 13 and up."
