Ha ha ha FUCK THOSE BITCHES. I did not get teary eyed over the idea, although I did rescue every little sister because Jso was going to see what the alternative was. The alternative is you don't get like 100 sweet sweet delicious gaemurpoint achievement points. So the game is clearly judging anyone who does not rescue every last one of them. Excluding the annoying ass bitches who get themselves killed when you are supposed to be escorting them through the special little sister doorways near the end.

The alternative is: less ADAM and a bad ending. The girls treat you like poison for only rescuing MOST of them. >:(

Although there was one single part of the game I had an emotional reaction to, and that's the part where Andrew Ryan uses your brainwashing to make you kill him. It was kind of dumb on his part but the scene itself I thought was pretty creepy and bizarre. The actual code word stuff was just surprising to me, but when it's actually used to make you kill someone without your control, I thought that was a pretty good scene.

That was a spoiler. Here is my impersonation of me pretending to give a shit.

I got tired of having too much ammo all the time and eventually started firing it off into the walls and blowing money on shit I didn't exactly need (more ammo) because I hated not picking up every little thing because I felt that would just screw me up for my scouring if I kept leaving shit around.

Hold down the trigger while backpedaling all the time. The firearms combat in the game is pretty satisfying but aside from the weapon upgrade machines it's really kinda simple. The only thing I would really want changed is the rate of fire on the smg increased to "insane."

-Bioshock wins where Half-Life 2 loses with the gravity gun telekinesis: objects you pick up turn transparent so you can see in front of you. Half-Life should copy this immediately.

I was okay with the transparent thing so I wasn't blocking my view except when I would pick up dead chicks to look up their skirts and it was all transparent so I couldn't see the loving detail they did(n't) put into their underpants.

HL2's gravity gun doesn't expend ammo to fire stuff, altho it is really nice that telekinesis doesn't burn any eve when you just pull stuff towards you. I didn't have any real trouble with HL2's gravity gun except when carrying a full size dresser or huge desks, or the gas barrels (UNHAPI FAEC). The sawblades and butane canisters don't obscure your view as much. Also a difference: it's very unrealistic. The Half Life series is always about full on immersion, Bioshock is sorta more about the story and gameplay elements like turning your hand into a charred cinder and then suddenly bursting icicles through your palm.

The chix in this game have really ugly faces so I didn't try very hard to look up their skirts.

-Early on in the game I thought to myself, "At least the enemies don't ever pretend to play dead." Lo and behold...

It was kinda late in the game when I would be running around like crazy looking for just one med kit or some crap, and suddenly I can't move over this corpse how odd. So I thought this is probably one of those trixor enemies even though his name was grayed out like a normal dead enemy, except for the red crosshair. Sorta convincing trick, but I pinned him to the floor with a crossbow bolt so it didn't work out as great for him.

-Hephaestus was the worst area in the entire game, and commited multiple video game sins.

  • The first time I moused over one of the quarts of gel, I knew I was going to have to pick them up for something. But, of course, you can't until the game tells you you need to. Then you have to backtrack through respawns.

  • Ditto for the parts off of the Big Daddies. I killed 3 of them before the game told me I needed parts off of them (which aren't available to loot beforehand), and naturally the corpses disappeared. I shouldn't be penalized for doing things early.

  • Respawns were out of control, particularly when assembling the EMP bomb. Collect a set of parts, run back to the workshop and, HEY!, 2 enemies playing dead. Add the part to the bomb and run upstairs, and LOOK! 2 new splicers in a room I cleared. Repeat EVERY FUCKING TIME I got a new set of parts. Why didn't they just say, "don't come back until you have all the parts."

I also did that with the big daddies, and I went back to one of those stairways where I knew I killed one and of course it was gone. It didn't even leave a lockbox like most of the enemies do.
I didn't care about respawns, because they were nothing I couldn't handle, and I was always having the same problem that the bad guy from The Last Boyscout had (my gun had too many bullets in it).

My biggest problem with the quarter cans was not being able to throw them at big daddies. I figured it would be like an electro shock grenade explody barrel type of thing, but no. I guess that's because otherwise they could get knocked into the lava, making the quest impossible. :(

I didn't come back to the EMP bomb until I had all the parts, but yea the big daddies I killed before were gone by the time I got the objective. That seems to be an intentional scripted event.

And yes, this gun has too many bullets in it.

-Was the bee swarm plasmid worth anything at all? Like everyone I'm sure, I picked it up just so I could create reenactments of Nicholas Cage in Wickerman, but it seemed to not really doing anything except annoy enemies until I shot them too many times. I stopped using it the second time a Big Daddy walked too close to a splicer being attacked and picked up bees too.

Yeah the bees thing was worthless, it distracted enemies until you got their attention again, so it didn't do any killing for me. Also, that's the same problem those dumb static field tonics have, if you get hit while standing too close to a big daddy you'll agor it. I don't need that shit in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It works on Atlus, but I avoided buying it until the very end. That's probably the only time in the whole game it's worth getting. It just seems to be the same effect of electro/freeze stun plus a low level incinerate. Just what I need, another stun that is dispelled as soon as I start shooting.

-Stealth plus wrench tonics were beastly.

Jso liked that stuff also, but I preferred guns. But it's pretty cool that they do give some good options for people who want to melee fight the whole game. They definitely made it viable.

I didn't use the wrench tonix but I always had the two stealth ones. Stealth works out really damn good in this game, which is good. It's always a passive benefit, so I can stumble dumb around into so much pie (pie in this case being med kits and other items) and suddenly look up and be like a few feet away from an enemy, stop in my tracks and become totally invisible, and then strike whenever I please. I usually used those opportunities to line up a perfect headshot. Why collect all that ammo just to use the wrench?

With all the melee and stealth tonics plus hacking and maybe some carefully selected plasmids (cyclone trap and stuff) you could probably zerg everyone like a wrench berserker. But in a game that gives you guns, why wouldn't you prefer to shoot everyone?

-Why is it I could stand 10 inches from someone and hit them with the upgraded damage shotgun, but it would only knock off a tiny fraction of their health?

Use the research camera and take pix of everything you can. It unlocks damage upgrades.

I have a big desire to play the full version on the PC now. I figure in a couple months I might buy it. Or... pirate it?
