I like video games. I really love video games. As a friend and as a life partner (gay?). It is my opinion that video games are the most worthwhile form of media to exist. The most amazing moments of my life have all been video game experiences. That probably means I am boring (and by probably I mean certainly), but I am still right about the form of media being superior to TV movies and music. It beats playing jacks and solitaire (?) all the time.
Before we were able to own a NES or even an Odessy2 (lol) (parentheticals sure make my snarking moar SPIECY) I would go over to my sister's house/apartment/townhouse object/device and play SMB over and over again eternally. She didn't have any other better games, unfortunately, but I got my start with Nintendo and real video games that way. When me and jay-ho first got our own NES and hooked it up to our shitty black and white tv with the dumb little prong attachments which needed to be screwed in with a screwdriver while carefully holding the prongs against the metal screws, that was the most incredible experience of our lives at the time. Besides figuring out how to operate the complicated machinery in the back of our crap tv by ourselves, finally seeing the picture for SMB go from fuzzy and unplayable to crystal clear was pretty much life changing. Yeah, we were boring. :(
So why would anyone volunteer to be even more boring than me by playing Donky Kong past level 2? The faggot fuck loser of the lowest degree "brags" in the movie trailer how it's the "hardest game ever made" as if that is such a great reason to set a world record with it. He's probably wrong anyway, just watch some AVGN and find better examples of hard games (Silver Surfer). The concept of "challenge" has been so overrated that now we get a vicious backlash in the form of Bioshock or other newer casual games, where dying doesn't punish you in the least and in fact might be considered a benefit.
I guess the guy in this movie, King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, could be correct that this is the hardest game ever. Anytime I played the actual Donky Kong game I would beat the first level, play the first few seconds of whatever level 2 was, die, and play something more interesting like o I dunno Yoshi's Island HL2 Gears of Wowamazing. As far as I am concerned the game ends when you rescue Princess Daisy, I mean Princess Toadstool, I mean Princess Peach, I mean no wait... it's just Daisy.
Not that Daisy. :(
So I haven't seen the movie yet. I dunno, I guess it might be ok, but I can't get over the shitty game they picked to set a world record with. I can bet what the average response to my post here will be. "lol 'n'-joy your mini-games and 'innovashun' and shitty rehashes wiitard wiiaboo (lol)" Or "overlong unreadable mess tl;dr."
My point is, some games don't stand the test of time. A lot of the great classics are a pile of dogshit today. It's sad and unfortunate and unavoidable. The video game medium is still growing up and learning what to do with itself. So here is some gay movie with ugly hairstyles about setting a world record of some kind in Donky Kong. This could be considered a post in the high score zone forum also, but in all my years I don't think I ever broke any records or anything that could be considered worth taking screenshots. Except for games that didn't have scoreboards, or old SNES carts I gave away/lost. Like my full clear for Yoshi's Island. Yes, I even had 100% on the secret maps. I got 120 stars in Mario 64 (not an amazing accomplishment, at least it didn't used to wow I used to be amazing at that game). I fully cleared the entirety of Goldeneye. But I never ever beat Doom which was boring as a bag of shit after Goldeneye anyway. I never even beat Halo 1 on legendary because I couldn't stand playing the same parts over and over. Does that make me more or less of a loser than the losers in that movie? Less. Was I not supposed to answer that question myself? Too fucking bad. >:( |
