The Custom Skater Pro Skater challenge from THPS 3 comes to mind, where you need to grind for like eight hours as the world bursts into flames around you. However since there are a number of challenges available you usually can't skip one or two and still advance to the next bracket. Which is probably the best thing about Skate, there's still one Death Race I am never going to do.
