[01:11] Motherhead: though I will never sit through a 1+ hour cutscene, ever.
[01:11] Motherhead: unless it's a Coen brothers game of some kind.

It always puzzled me as to why mgs fags practically thought it was. It's more like 10 minutes of a Coen brothers movie, if the Coen brothers were suddenly brain damaged, but stretched out to 5 hours.

Fuck this game, fuck the PS3, and fuck me for being almost done with my third playthrough.

I have a feeling that's what you get when you DO skip the cutscenes (like on a game replay). Jso and I did that in MGS3, and were able to find a perfectly tolerable and semi fun 8 hour game, especially on replays where they give you a few fun bonus items to play around with, it's ALMOST emergent.

If Jso and I ever do a review of this game (not likely, we'd need a piss 3 ripoff system with no games and bad dev support and Ridge Racer 8 introduced by Chewbacca), it should just be a big ass checklist of all the stupid and embarrassing shit in the game for cons, followed by the few positive things we could think of about the game and/or the game system presented. Something like how the rules of the stealth or hiding or combat are very functional and it can be fun to run around in a persistent area hiding from enemies or doing this or that.

One sad thing I don't know if anyone remembers, back when the first trailer for MGS4 was actually done with the MGS3 engine, there was an implication that the game was suddenly going to be about FULLY DESTRUCTIBLE ENVIRONMENTS. I think that is what Kojima was disappointed in when the "processing power" of the piss 3 couldn't meet his expectations or whatever.

That's pretty ironic Kojima, because even if you had the fully destructible environments, it would've been in a 6 hour game where you're still filling up about 8 more hours with childish pretentious cutscenes.
